Cairngorms - February 2007

Click the images to go to the various galleries. Some galleries are on this page, some are on other pages.

During the 2nd week of February 2007 I headed off with my wife and a group of friends to the Cairngorms. Last year was near death in snow holes with Gary, but this year lots of us chipped in and rented a cottage. I know we are soft, however it was one of the best weeks of mountaineering I'd had in years.

Sunday 4th February - Coire-an-Sneachda

On the Sunday Caroline enjoyed her first day of hillwalking, and Simon and Rob had a good time (I think). However the weather was against us, and despite a late seasonal cold snap the conditions in the Coire were too soft for a safe day. Still we had fun, click here to see the photos.

Monday 5th February - Cairngorm (ish)

The following day we merry band headed off up Cairngorm. The weather was bad. We went home. Click here for the photos.

Tuesday 6th February - Wildlife Park

On Tuesday after a bout of flu Kelly was feeling much better, so we headed off to the Hignland Wildlife Park in Kincraig. The photos are here.

Wednesday 7th February - Bynack Mor

This was the most amazing once-in-a-blue-moon day on the hill. There are photos from both Gary and Myself, both galleries are on seperate pages.

Meanwhile Kelly, Caroline and Neil went dogsledding. Photos to follow.

Thursday 8th Febriary - Bimble

After all the excitement of Wednesday we all decided to have a bit of a lazy day, so for the thursday photos I've posted all the random images from the holiday that don't fit anywhere else. The only photo of Rob and Ruth (who popped by on the weekend) is also amongst them.

Friday 9th February - Cairngorm Mountain (by train)

On Friday the weather on the summit of Cairngorm was zero visability with winds of 80mph, so the perfect day to take the funicular railway to the visitors centre. Photos here.
