About this Domain
This site was originaly created as Shappyhopper.com in the year 2000 (just after I finished University), and wa at first just a way for me to practice perl. I put up a few pages of content which I never expected anyone to really look at, and allowed the site to age significantly. The name was based on a nickname (Shappy Hopper) I'd picked up at Uni (from Gary), which was a spoonerism (of sorts) of Happy Shopper.
In 2003, in a bid to save some money and tell the world that this was a British site I moved the domain to shappyhopper.co.uk. In 2004 I was amazed to discover that my pages on the B2154 laptop had reached #1 in the world when searched on Google, MSN and Altavista. It was about this time that I started updating the content (mortified at how old some of it was), but then again apathy took hold and large parts of the site remained unchanged and un-maintained, although I did continue to post new pages from time to time.
That was how things remained for a while, in fact the essential format and content of much of the site didn't really change between 2000 and 2007, when the site format shifted from a table based layout to a CSS based one, and I began a concerted effort to update the content.
Whilst that process will undoubtedly continue for some time (and I am sure that I will have long periods of apathy again) I hope that these pages are of use to you, or if not that you get some form of entertainment from them.
